It’s been incredibly well kept inside and out. The paint still shines, and the exterior moldings still have their original flexibility and rich color, which says a lot about how this van was stored and cared for over the years.Built on the Ford Econoline chassis and powered by the dependable 5.4L V8 Triton engine, this Sportsmobile has the kind of strength and reliability people look for in a van like this. Sportsmobile is known for building quality conversions, and when you pair that with the Ford chassis, you get one of the most iconic and trusted combinations in the van world. It’s also the preferred chassis for 4x4 conversions, which only adds to its appeal. What really sets this one apart is how rare and useful it is. You’re getting a ten-passenger vehicle that also works as a fully equipped camper, all in a small van that fits in a regular parking space and still looks like a normal conversion van. That makes it incredibly incognito. It’s the kind of rig you can use for travel, camping, errands, or everyday driving without drawing attention. It was custom ordered by the original owner directly from Sportsmobile back in 2002, and they really loaded it up the right way. It has a one-piece fiberglass hard top roof with comfortable interior standing room, four captain’s seats up front, and both front seats swivel to face the rear. Behind that are two gauchos with seatbelts.. Those gauchos also convert into a sizable bed and can be used as a dining area with the included table. The table works well both up front with the swivel seats or back by the kitchen area near the gauchos. The kitchen includes a Norcold refrigerator, sink, hot water heater, microwave, and lots of pantry and countertop space. In the rear, there’s a porta potty tucked away neatly in one of the cabinets. Storage is everywhere in this van, including under the gauchos, in the cabinets, and all throughout the overhead shelving. It also has a very practical walk-through layout, which makes it easy to load gear like a bike, canoe, surfboard, or whatever else you want to bring along. It also gives you a convenient extra entrance or exit. If you want more space, the front seats can be removed, and the custom Sportsmobile mats stored in the cabinets can be laid down to cover the seat mounts. Other nice touches include plenty of lighting, cupholders, privacy curtains throughout, original Ford stickers all over the van, fold-out tables on the door panels that are great for outside eating or a workspace, and storage in the door panels as well. It also comes with the original Ford and Sportsmobile manuals and even the original window sticker. This is a rare chance to own a small, easy-to-drive van that gives you the seating capacity of a people mover and the amenities of a camper, all while staying discreet and easy to park. It’s a really smart setup and a hard one to replace.Video Appointments available for long-distance buyers.Questions? Trades? Call 847-596-1327By appointment only.
