2018 Forest River Rockwood Hard Side A122
Hard-side A-frame pop-up | No canvas | ~17' 1" closed | Sleeps 3 4 | Garage-friendly height
Travel-trailer walls. Pop-up weight and storage.
This 2018 Forest River Rockwood Hard Side A122 is the small hard-wall folding camper people look for when they are done with canvas. It tows light, sets up fast, and folds down to about 5' 1" so it can live in a garage instead of baking in an Arizona driveway.
Why the A122 is different
Canvas pop-ups flap, leak, and wear out. The Rockwood Hard Side A122 uses a vacuum-bonded fiberglass exterior and a lifting hard roof, so you get:
That combination is why shoppers search for a used Rockwood hard side pop-up, A-frame camper for sale, and no-canvas folding camper.
Layout
This is a couples or small-family weekender, not a full-bath travel trailer. Most A122s use a porta-potty or cassette toilet and an outside shower rather than an onboard black tank.
Construction and camping features
Options on used 2018s vary (power tongue jack, awning/screen room, extra solar, upgraded mattress heat). Verify what is on the unit before a

Why the A122 is different
Canvas pop-ups flap, leak, and wear out. The Rockwood Hard Side A122 uses a vacuum-bonded fiberglass exterior and a lifting hard roof, so you get:
- No canvas to mildew or replace
- Better insulation than a tent trailer
- Faster setup (gas-strut roof assist)
- A solid, lockable shell when closed
- Still only about 2,014 lbs dry with a 222 lb hitch weight
That combination is why shoppers search for a used Rockwood hard side pop-up, A-frame camper for sale, and no-canvas folding camper.
Layout
- Rear 54" x 80" flip-up bed with quilted memory-foam mattress and storage underneath (Cool Cat heat pump typically lives here)
- Front 45" x 80" booth dinette that converts for a third sleeper
- Compact galley: 3-burner cooktop, microwave, compact 3-way refrigerator, and sink
- EZ Reach front storage trunk plus additional exterior compartments
- Outdoor gas grill with work surface so cooking stays outside
This is a couples or small-family weekender, not a full-bath travel trailer. Most A122s use a porta-potty or cassette toilet and an outside shower rather than an onboard black tank.
Construction and camping features
- Smooth oyster fiberglass vacuum-bonded exterior
- Powder-coated tubular steel frame
- Single axle, compact 12' box
- 30-amp service
- Solar prep
- AM/FM media center with Bluetooth, USB, and aux
- LED interior lighting and large opening windows
- Stabilizer jacks and spare-tire provisions on most units
