2020 Grand Design XLS 22MLE Travel Trailer: This is a one-owner camper enjoyed for the last 6 years by a retired couple, non-smokers with no pets. We bought this camper with the intent of camping in the national parks out west. Many of the national parks have a limit on camper lengths so this one was perfect! We pulled this camper out west with a Dodge Ram 1500 truck with no problem. We enjoyed Custer State Park, Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. We had no problem pulling this camper full of supplies throughout the mountains out west.
This was the first year for this floorpan. The vinyl flooring is in perfect condition and easy to keep clean. There is a large shoe cubby hole on the floor as soon as you walk in the door. Black-out roller shades provide privacy. For the size of this camper there is a very spacious feeling inside with the slide-out open. Having the full size queen bed open at one end all the way to the kitchen at the opposite end creates plenty of room to move around. When traveling, even with the slide in, there is plenty of space to walk to the bathroom for use while traveling. We have had a mattress topper on the bed since it was new so the mattress is in excellent condition. The bed is surrounded by plenty of cabinet space: 2 areas above the bed, 2 drawers on each side and 2 closets with rods to hang clothes plus additional storage behind the rods. The entire area under the bed has a huge, deep storage space. The bed lifts and lowers easily with hydraulics. There are 2 small lights above the bed with white and blue lights. Windows on both sides of the bed provide great breezes. There is a curtain which slides across the entire bed for privacy if needed. The television with DVD player/radio is on a swivel so that it can be viewed from either the bed or recliners. There are also speakers outside under the great awning which extends across the entire side of the camper. There is a strip of blue lights running underneath the entire awning for nighttime enjoyment. The awning is in great condition and extends with the touch of a button.
The kitchen has a very large 8 cubic foot refrigerator with top freezer. The refrigerator is deeper than it looks and holds a large amount of food on the shelves as well as on the door. It runs on both gas and electric. There are 3 deep drawers in-between the refrigerator and stove for silverware. The extra countertop space here really comes in handy. Next to the microwave is a very large cabinet for storing bowls, etc. The gas stove has 3 burners and a small oven. Underneath the oven is a huge, deep drawer for pots and pans. The sink is very large and deep and has a sliding cover which doubles as extra countertop space when needed. There is a nice amount of countertop space here for a camper this size. There are 2 great windows in the kitchen area which creates great cross breezes when open. There is a very large 2-door cabinet above the countertop with 2 shelves that hold a lot of food. There is also a very large, deep corner cabinet next to that which provides great storage for bulkier items. Next to that is another small cabinet with 2 shelves that are perfect for items like coffee cups or glasses. Under the sink is a shelf for storing a collapsable dish pan and trash bags. There is additional storage under that shelf in the front of the sink pipes for detergent and cleaners. Under the countertop there are 2 huge, deep drawers for storage of plates, etc. All of the appliances are in very good condition. The oven was only used about 3 or 4 times. There are 2 ceiling vents which open with fans that can be turned on. One is in the kitchen and the other is in the bathroom.
The living/dining area has 2 recliners which have heat, vibrators and cup holders with lights. These recliners fully recline and everything works. There is a small storage area in between the seats for remotes. The vinyl headrests of the recliners are cracked even though we have had the recliner covers on them the entire time. That was one of the common complaints I saw when researching this camper before purchasing. The recliner covers are included. The dining table bench seats are in excellent condition and it seats 4 people. The table can be lowered to make a bed. Unfortunately the hydraulics to lift the table just quit working but it can still be raised by hand and is secure when latched. There is a huge, very deep cabinet with 2 shelves behind the bench seat/mirror. I had storage bins in these that held all of my paper products, extra silverware, etc. It is extremely deep and holds a lot. The bathroom has a great size shower with a skylight. This shower has much more space than the corner showers we saw in several other campers of this size. There is a lot of storage in this small bathroom. The medicine cabinet has 2 shelves. To the left of that are 2 additional cabinets with 2 shelves which provide a lot of additional storage for bathroom supplies. There is a cabinet under the sink for storage of your trash can, etc. Next to that is another large cabinet with 2 shelves for even more storage. Towels are rolled and stuffed into the cubby holes in the corner and they can hold a lot. There is also a towel bar and 2 hooks for hanging towels above the toilet. We put in a new bathroom faucet with a higher arc when we purchased it. There is a nice amount of countertop with the sink. The door into the bathroom is a pocket door.
The heat and AC work perfectly. This camper also has Arctic Insulation for Four Seasons Protection. The storage area below is huge with doors at either end and motion sensor lighting. You can store a lot of large items in this space.
We are including a screened tent, bike rack, custom spare tire cover, all hoses and cords and the recliner covers. In addition, we are also including a fit-to-size winter cover which protects your camper over the winter. It is a good quality cover and is easy to put on and remove.
We have truly loved using this camper! Even though it is 6 years old it has been kept extremely clean and has been well maintained. We are selling it because we built a small cabin in the country so don’t use it much anymore. The price reflects the few items with wear and tear. If you are looking for a nice, smaller camper with lots of the comforts of home this is it! Please contact me if you have any questions. I would be happy to discuss it with you.
