If you ve been looking for a TAB 400, you probably already know they are the gold standard for teardrops. But if you ve actually tried to camp off-grid in a stock one, you know that the factory battery and storage can be a bit tight. We fixed that. We are the original owners and have loved this trailer, but we went a little "mad scientist" on the upgrades to make it a true boondocking machine. When it wasn't out on an adventure, it was parked safely inside our garage, out of the sun and rain.
The "Game-Changer" Upgrades:
Massive 320Ah Lithium Battery: We ditched the standard battery for a huge 320Ah Lithium bank. Combined with the solar, you can run your lights, fans, and tech for days without ever worrying about a "low battery" beep.
Double Storage Boxes: Anyone who owns a teardrop knows that exterior storage is worth its weight in gold. We added two additional custom storage boxes on the Boondock platform. It s the perfect spot for tools, leveling blocks, or gear you don t want inside.
Why the Boondock Edition?
This is the rugged version. It features a heavy-duty pitched axle for extra ground clearance, 15" sport rims with aggressive off-road tires, and that beefy aluminum utility platform on the front. It s built to go exactly where the "big rigs" can t.
Silent Heat: If you ve ever been woken up by a clanging RV furnace, you ll love the Alde Central Heat & Hot Water system. It s silent, radiant heat like a luxury home.
The "Big" Fridge: We have the upgraded 4.6 cu. ft. 2-way refrigerator, which is nearly double the size of the standard 2.3 cu. ft. model.
Sleeps 3: A comfortable RV Queen bed in the rear and a front dinette that converts into a second bed.
Full Amenities: Wet bath/shower, 24" TV with Bluetooth, glass-top 2-burner stove, and a surprisingly large wardrobe closet.
The "Must-Haves": All electrical cords, adapters, and a custom awning.
Leveling: Stabilizers and a full set of leveling blocks.
Manual tongue jack (reliable and simple), and an outdoor shower for those muddy hikes.
No smoking
Weight: 2,840 lbs Dry / 318 lbs Hitch (Easy to tow with most SUVs/Light Trucks).
Tanks: 22 gal Fresh / 18 gal Gray / 12 gal Black.
